January was a month full of surprises in weather that sparked a movement around PCEI! With the unexpected warm temperatures and dry grounds, volunteers were able to get outside early this year at the Nature Center and get things done! Volunteers worked on PCEI demonstration projects, participated in Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service at Lewis Clark State College, helped create wetland ponds on site, explored with local elementary school kids and organized information. Thank you so much to all our wonderful volunteers! You keep us going strong!

2010 has started with a bang because of all the work of our awesome volunteers. Some dedicated local students and community members have come in each week so far this year to help us organize crucial information and enter important data into our systems. They've been so helpful in our efforts to streamline processes and been flexible enough to handle all the changes. We have also been lucky enough to have some great volunteers working outside to reinstall our GeoBlock demonstration strips in the sustainable parking lot, prepare our Pantry Garden for spring planting and clean up the Lewiston parks for MLK Day. We even had the opportunity this season for our lovely docents to lead tours of the PCEI Nature Center and our demonstration projects. On the occasion that it did actually snow this winter, we have had a few awesome volunteers come out to shovel our wheelchair accessible pathway for visitors. At the Nature Center, volunteers also worked to educate local kids during the Nature Explorers after school program and install another series of wetland ponds. And now, as spring seems to be right around the corner, volunteers are working to get spring events advertised and the grounds ready for community events such as the 20th Annual Paradise Stream Clean Up!

The month was awesome and we can't wait to greet any new volunteers that come through our doors. January was a success. Let's make February one too!

The planting and restoration season is right around the corner, but until then, indoor and some outdoor volunteer opportunities are available for all ages and any skill level. Please contact us with questions and interest! Thanks again to all of our amazing volunteers who have contributed so much this past month! You are very much appreciated.

Internships can be found here.
