2012 Internships
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following internship job descriptions. Positions may be tailored to individual interests, skills, and goals; work plans will be created upon starting. Please fill-out our volunteer application include resume and cover and send in an email to the PCEI Outreach Coordinator at volunteer@pcei.org or contact us for more information about these positions.


Learning Nursery Intern
Spring 2012

• Assist in care and maintenance of the nursery facility to include: irrigation maintenance, plant watering, mulching, weeding, and native plant care.
• Participate in implementation of nursery sales and events.
• Helps maintain nursery website and database.
• Develop and distribute marketing materials for plant sales.

Habitat Technician Intern
Spring 2012

• Assist in care and maintenance of the PCEI Learning Nursery facility to include: plant propagation, plant watering, weeding, potting, and sowing and sorting seeds.
• Assist in the implementation of PCEI restoration projects to include: restoration monitoring, planting, erosion control implementation, weed control activities and volunteer recruitment.
• Participate in leadership development activities and volunteer events at PCEI project sites and in the Learning Nursery.
• Participate in habitat restoration and conservation activities at the Rose Creek Nature Preserve and at the PCEI Nature Center.

Project Leader Intern
Spring 2012

•Assist in the preparations for PCEI events involving watershed restoration, stream clean-ups, Nature Center projects, and PCEI outreach events.
•Participate in outreach opportunities through emails, postcards, fliers, phone calls, or meetings.
•Facilitate volunteer events at PCEI restoration sites, Rose Creek Nature Preserve, the PCEI Learning Nursery, the PCEI Nature Center Campus, and other event sites.
•Lead volunteers in care and maintenance of the PCEI Learning Nursery including: plant propagation, plant watering, weeding and mulching.
•Lead volunteers in habitat restoration activities including: site maintenance, fencing installation, planting, weeding, and erosion control implementation.

Public Relations Intern
Spring 2012

• Help maintain, update and enhance our photo database.
• Work with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and other computer programs.
• Assist in the creation of flyers, posters, media kits, and brochures.
• Assist in the publication of PCEI’s quarterly newsletter.
• Write articles in local and regional newsletters and papers promoting upcoming PCEI events.
• Work with PCEI staff to organize and maintain website.
• Input data into databases.
• Participate in outreach activities such as boothing and PCEI events.

Nature Center Intern
Spring 2012

• Participate in developing a vision for the PCEI Nature Center.
• Maintain the appearance of the Rodeo Campus.
• Stewardship such as planting, weed control, and trail development.
• Potentially building new structures as the Nature Center develops.
• Building structures such as a windmill or an outdoor classroom.
• Committed to serving the needs of the community and the environment of the Palouse

Finance Intern
Spring 2012

• Assist with the reading, writing and editing of PCEI correspondence
• Help maintain, update and enhance current record keeping systems
• Help prepare material for grant reports
• Assist with financial budgeting and analysis

Spring 2012

• Set up our new website using Wordpress 3.3 with the catalyst theme.
• Take primary leadership in transferring data from existing website to new website
• Answer questions and provide training with this new software
