PCEI Hosted a Living Roof Workshop on October 7th, 2006.
The Living Roof Workshop advertised: Would you like to better regulate the temperature of your home? Are you interested in reducing storm water runoff? How about adding to the beauty of your neighborhood? Wouldn't you like to reduce pollutants and CO2 in the atmosphere? Consider attending the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute Living Roof Workshop! The cost is only $33, and you will learn the importance and basics of greenroofing! There will be presentations on the benefits of living roofs, plant choice and design, and the structural components of building a green roof. You will also have the unique opportunity to plant a Living Roof at the PCEI Rodeo campus.

The Living Roof comes to life!
These are two views of our "alternative building" haybale bike structure before the plants were planted to create a living roof.

Here are a few pictures of the finished product!

A few participants from the PCEI "Living Roof Workshop" admire their hard work.

This view shows the variety of sedums that were planted, as well as the small brick pathway that will hopefull invite guests to stroll the rooftop gardens.

Design help and layouts for the living roof sedums were created by Pamela Williams.
