EAP Sponsor Information,
General
Thanks to an AmeriCorps grant through Serve Idaho, the Governor’s
Commission on Service, we are able to give your volunteers money for
existing loans or future tuition once they’ve complete a certain number
of hours volunteering with your organization. It can be a great way to
reward your volunteers and encourage long-term commitment to your
organization.
This is how it works:
To become an enrolled organization, an application needs to be completed.
Include position descriptions for each volunteer position that will be
offered (this allows us to advertise for you on our website and gives
us a better understanding of what the volunteers specific duties are.)
Our office will review your application.
Once your application has been reviewed (takes approx a week) and
approved (a confirmation letter will be mailed out), find a volunteer
who will fit into one of the following categories, who can complete the
number of hours over the course of 12 months:
300 hrs total volunteer time=6.25 hrs/wk (*over 48 wks)= $1,000
award
450 hrs total volunteer time= 9.4 hrs/wk (*over 48 wks)= $1,250
award
675 hrs total volunteer time=14 hrs/wk (*over 48 wks)= $1,800
award
900 hrs total volunteer time=18.75 hrs/wk (*over 48 wks)= $2,362.50
award
*The average number of hours is figured using 48 weeks, since there are
some weeks that most people don't work due to vacation, holidays,
illness, etc.)
Once you have chosen a volunteer, they need to complete an application and enrollment
paperwork. They get approved. You guide them through their
service as you would with any volunteer. They complete their hours and
receive an education award through our office. You have received help
and a completed a project(s).
An organization is not limited to the number of Education Award Only
volunteers they may have. There is no cost attached to sponsoring a
volunteer. If you think this program might be appealing to some of
your volunteers (whether or not you have someone in mind or interested
now), fill out an application and we’ll keep it on file.
