Jacob Dolence Jacob Dolence hails from Laramie, Wyoming. As a young child, he spent
much of his time outdoors playing on giant granite boulders at the
world famous climbing area, Vedauwoo, Wyoming. Later in life these
outings influenced him to devote much of his time to climbing and
conservation of climbing areas. Jacob attended University of Idaho
eventually earning a B.S. in Conservation Social Sciences. One of
Jacob’s favorite quotes is from Martin Luther King Junior:
Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have
to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject
and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul
generated by love. Jacobs’s current goals include trying to save
the world, being a positive influence on children, and getting out rock
climbing as much as possible. Other interests are anything to do with
sustainability, mountain biking, and eating cookies. |

Adrienne Boland Adrienne was born in Moscow, Idaho. She grew up playing in the woods
and recreating with her family. Her favorite memories are of camping,
fishing and skiing with her brother, mom and dad. These experiences
helped her realize her connection to the environment and she developed
an appreciation that she wanted to share with others. She is currently
working at the McCall Outdoor Science School as a Field Instructor, but
hopes to attend graduate school and study alpine ecology. She was a
member of the University of Idaho snowboard team and participated in
many clubs and volunteer activities throughout college. Her life
changing experience would be the opportunity to study Coeur d’Alene
salamanders on the North Fork of the Clearwater River. This is where
she found a passion for research and the small creatures that most
overlook. She has found a new love for mountaineering and would like
to share the experience, knowledge and study the environment with
people of all backgrounds and abilities. |

Caroline Richardson Caroline grew up in South Carolina, in the foothills of the Appalachian
Mountains. Her passion for the natural world is rooted in a childhood
spent exploring the woods around her house and spending entire summers
at camp. It was only, well, natural that she receive her B.A. in
Natural Resources and the Environment after four amazing years at the
University of the South in Sewanee, TN. Her first inkling to become
and environmental educator came to her in the winter of 2006, so she
signed up for an Outdoor Educator course with NOLS Southwest. Soon
after completing the course, she began the Northwest Youth Corps’
Leadership Development Program. In this program, she spent three
months living and working on trails in Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, and
Washington. She served as Assistant Crew Leader on a crew of teenagers
during the months of June and July. She joined forces with the EE team
at PCEI in September and is thrilled at the prospect of teaching and
learning about environmental science in the Palouse. She really enjoys
going to the grocery store/farmers’ market, cooking, painting, yoga,
finding humor in everything, and riding her bike. |

Laurie Jackson Laurie, born in Richland, WA, the "town the atom built," feels lucky her
family had summers off and travelled with car and trailer each year,
finally touring all 48 contiguous states. After graduating from
Columbia High in 1976, she attended both WSU and University of Idaho,
graduating from U of I with a BA with minors in History and
Communications in 1983. She married another U of I alumnus, a musician
and broadcaster, and they've celebrated 23 anniversaries since.
Classically trained on violin, she traded the fiddle for a bass guitar
in college and has played music professionally since age 17. Laurie's
career soon revolved around Public Radio, as well as commercial radio
and TV, although she really wanted to teach middle school homeroom and
returned to EWU for her certification in the mid 90's.
Laurie especially enjoys the outdoors, and in younger years, sidled up
and down the boulders and switchbacks of the Selkirks. She continues
to love hiking, biking, gardening, raising chickens and "fat" camping
up on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River. She and her husband
are happily learning to farm seven acres northwest of Spokane on the
spectacular Four Mound Prairie. |

Audra Krislock Growing up surrounded by the mountains and lakes of the Spokane area
caused Audra to fall deeply in love with nature and the incredible
adventures it encourages. While at the University of Idaho, Audra
began feeling the pressure of having to focus her studies; quickly she
decided studying abroad was the best solution, so she packed her bags
and flew to Ecuador. The unforgettable year was packed with learning
Spanish, not flushing toilet paper, traveling to hidden waterfalls, all
the while consuming large quantities of the freshest fruit. During this
time, Audra discovered her interest in relationships between countries
and how humans impact the environment. Audra then returned to Idaho,
graduating with a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish, only to
begin exploring even more possibilities. Aside from her AmeriCorps
position as the Volunteer/Climate Change Education Coordinator at The
Lands Council, she can be found waterskiing, throwing snowballs,
climbing trees, skiing in the snow, looking up words in her pocket
dictionary, and baking delicious desserts, breads and the occasional
dinner. |

Laura Milewski Laura has come a long way from the beautiful and lively city of Chicago
to join the PCEI team as the Community Outreach Specialist! It was as
an undergrad at Lawrence University in northern Wisconsin that she
fully developed her passion for environmental work and saving the
entire planet. In her senior year at LU, she worked in the Volunteer &
Community Service Center as a coordinator of environmental and social
justice programs. This experience, along with her work as a
quasi-environmental educator through Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots
program, fueled her passions and Laura now strongly believes that she
really can begin to change the world. Overall, Laura enjoys rocking
out on her flute, making small talk with her little brother and sister,
playing with dogs, spending time with her wonderful fiancé, and
stargazing. Most of all, she hopes to someday do service work in
Africa.

Kathy Dawes Kathy grew up loving science and nature, either playing with her
microscope or chemistry set or playing in the woods. She attended
Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she met her husband at
a wilderness camp in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. After spending a
year-long honeymoon in a cabin on a lake in northern Ontario, she and
her husband packed up all their worldly belongings into a Volkswagen
bug and drove across the country to attend graduate school at the
University of Idaho. After finishing her master's degree and working
as a lab technician, she started a family and also started her own
business at home as a graphics artist. During those years, she was an
active community volunteer. After her two children entered school, she
began teaching and just recently retired after teaching science at
Moscow Junior High School for thirteen years. Her hobbies are theater,
music, and enjoying the out-of-doors. However, her most recent hobby is
something that even surprises her… playing in a traveling marimba band.
The group has played together for the past four years and enjoys
entertaining at various community events in the northwest. Since she
was one of the founding members of the Palouse Discovery Science Center
back in 1998, she is very happy to be serving there now as an AmeriCorps
member. |

Brian Holda Brian was born and raised on a small farm in eastern Kansas. Soon
enough though, he headed east in search of the bright lights and honky
tonks of Nashville. Around Nashville, Brian was able to fuel his love
for music while still feeding his love of the outdoors. Eventually
opting for the latter, he moved to Knoxville at the base of the Smoky
Mountains. After a painfully long relationship with college, Brian
graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelors of Science
in Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries. Through a series of fortunate
events and at the coaxing of a devoted group of women, Brian found
himself in the beautiful surroundings of Ketchum, Idaho working with
the world’s most enjoyable group of high school and middle school kids.
In his small amount of off time, Brian can be found sleeping on the
ground, backpacking, growing vegetables, writing, singing Johnny Cash
uncontrollably in his car, or cursing at his bicycle on the side of the
road. |
