Tom Brattebo Born on the south shore of the Columbia River tidewater, Tom immediately
hopped the ferry to the north shore to live the next three score and
more, forever connected to the water by that early ferryboat ride.
After a four year visit to the Palouse and WSU, then an aerial tour of
SEA (Southeast Asia, often known as the Vietnam War), Tom landed in
Spokane, Washington's snow. He's still there 35 years later after
making aluminum, recruiting Air Force officers and raising two great
kids. Retiring to AmeriCorps at the West Valley Outdoor Learning
Center, to retire again (not "expire" as rumored) to AmeriCorps at the
Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency as the "No Idle Zone" Coordinator,
Tom hopes to clean the air and see some more of the world. |

Kathleen Fergus As a small child growing up in Wausau, Wisconsin, Kathleen enjoyed the
family vacations to Florida and the ocean the most. She made a promise
to herself that one day she would live on a coast. That day came when
she began applying for college--enter Washington state and the
University of Puget Sound. Here, Kathleen's love of the outdoors
blossomed: fishing, hiking, camping, snowboarding, backpacking. After
three and a half years at UPS, Kathleen received her BA in Psychology
with minors in History and Spanish. She is now in Ketchum, combining
her love of the outdoors with her passion to help children as an
AmeriCorps member at the YMCA. |

Idaho Falls. Randy was awarded Idaho Fish and Game's Volunteer of the
Year in 2006 and is excited to currently be an AmeriCorps member
serving as Volunteer Coordinator with the Fish & Game office in Idaho
Falls. Randy enjoys photography, fly fishing, hunting, and spending
time with his family. One of his favorite sayings is "There is
nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer." |

Caroline Pechuzal Caroline is a child of the sun, born and raised in the Sonoran desert of
southern Arizona. After high school, she escaped from Phoenix gridlock
and headed south to Tucson where she completed a Bachelor of Science
degree in Biology at the University of Arizona. Amidst her studious
moments in Tucson, Caroline made sure to take time to explore her many
interests and passions, such as rock climbing, studying Spanish in
Ecuador, doing yoga, playing ultimate Frisbee, working with kids,
crocheting, and always trying to improve her guitar skills. Her year
and a half of working in conservation after graduating led her to many
exciting places. She has led trail crews for the Student Conservation
Association in Alaska, the Olympic Peninsula, Lake Michigan, and the
Appalachian Mountains, as well as leading for the Southwest
Conservation Corps in southern Arizona. While trail life was rewarding
and exciting, Caroline is happy to set down her pack in Moscow and
welcomes the chance to become an active member of Moscow’s lovely
community, teaching environmental education through PCEI. |

Drew Reinke Drew was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Throughout his
youth, a strong appreciation for the outdoors was instilled in him
after many years of hunting and fishing. Drew’s decision on where to go
to college was easily made. He decided on the University of Wisconsin –
Stevens Point which is known for its large and premier natural resources
undergraduate programs. The summer after his junior year, Drew was
accepted into a study abroad program in Europe. While in Europe, he
traveled to Poland, Germany, Switzerland, and Iceland, gaining many
valuable skills and much information in sustainable forestry and
renewable resources. The study abroad program also provoked a strong
desire to travel. In May of 2007, Drew graduated with a B.S. in
Resource Management and an emphasis in Land Use Planning.
Drew's commitment to land preservation and habitat enhancement can
be traced back to his family’s inheritance of a 50 acre parcel
previously used for agricultural purposes. Since obtaining the land,
multiple ponds have been dug and over 13,000 trees have been planted,
all of which provide necessary habitat to surrounding wildlife. As the
new Stewardship Coordinator with the Inland Northwest Land Trust, Drew
is excited to begin work with the land trust and its many volunteers.

Jenny Hall Jenny grew up in hills surrounding the Snohomish Valley in Washington
State. Her childhood was spent playing in the woods and around ponds,
which contributed to her love of all things wild. She graduated from
Huxley College of the Environment with her B.S. in Aquatic Ecology and
has been working with stream and wetland restoration. Among her water
related adventures are backpacking in the Eagle Cap Wilderness,
catching groundfish off the Gulf of Alaska, and participating in
snorkeling surveys in New Zealand. When not found around water, Jenny
spends her time snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and backpacking. |

Lafayette, Indiana. Adolescence brought him to northern Idaho where he
graduated from Rocky Mountain Academy in 2002. There, he fostered a
deep love of the outdoors. In August 2006, Matt completed a National
Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) course in the Yukon territory. He
enjoys music, art, and spending quality time with friends. |

Kyle Livingston Kyle hails from Spokane, Washington, where he spent the majority of his
adolescence after living in four other states during his peripatetic
childhood. He traveled eastward for an education, graduating from Yale
University in the spring of 2006 with a BA in psychology. Enticed to
southern Idaho by his cousin with promises of a simpler, fuller life in
the mountains, he came to spend one winter in Ketchum. Growing
up in eastern Washington caused Kyle to adore the lakes and
wildernesses of Idaho's panhandle. Moving to southern Idaho after
college in New England has brought his appreciation for Idaho's natural
beauty full circle. An avid hiker, backpacker, skier (snow and water),
mountain biker and fisherman, life in the Wood River Valley suits him
perfectly. Kyle believes that his current AmeriCorps position as the
Climate Protection Coordinator with the Environmental Resource Center
in Ketchum offers him a unique opportunity to translate a simple
appreciation of the natural world into actual work towards its
conservation and improvement. |

Chris Bare Chris hails from Bozeman, Montana, a town responsible for many of the
world's outdoor junkies. Time spent hiking, hunting, skiing, and
fishing bestowed upon him a strong appreciation for our natural
resources and motivated him to pursue advanced degrees in biological
sciences and fish and wildlife management. Along the way, he has gained
a variety of experiences in fisheries biology, including research in
prairie streams of Montana, lakes in southwest Oregon, Ozark streams of
Arkansas, and the nearby lower Snake River. These jobs have taken him to
some of the most beautiful surroundings one could hope to work in—let
alone see! But, they've also revealed the negative impacts we can have
on the land. Joining the PCEI stream restoration team, Chris is
committed to reversing the results of such impacts and helping our
community become more aware of curing the problem. |
