PCEI Plate Project

What is the Plate Project?

The Plate Project was created to find an inexpensive way of acquiring multiple place settings for events without having to use disposable plastic dishes and utensils.

From thrift stores to garage sales, large and small plates, cups, glasses and flatware were acquired at a rate cheaper then renting them. These dishes were donated to PCEI in 2005 in hopes that others would have the opportunity to share in this idea of "reusing." After the initial donation, we solicited the Moscow Community to help make it grow and it has!

Currently there are over 1000 different pieces of dishware in our collection. The Plate Project collection contains a variety of patterns ranging from Christmas designs to plain white plates. This makes each event unique! Click here for a list of the available dishes, cups and utensils.

"I want to have a waste free event, how do I request items?"

  • Make your reservation at least 1 week prior to the pick-up data. Fill out our new Plate Project Request Form or call PCEI at 208-882-1444 or the 1912 Center at 208-669-2249 to reserve your date.
  • A Plate Project coordinator will arrange a pick up time with you.
  • Pick up the items at the 1912 Center at 412 E 3rd Street; 8am - 5pm Monday-Friday. You can give your Plate Project donation to Jenny Sheneman, the 1912 Center Executive Director.
  • Clean and sanitize items before & after use.
  • Return them in the same bins provided and on the agreed date.
  • If an item is lost or broken, we ask that you replace it with a comparable item.
NOTE: We've recently changed our reservation procedure. Instead of a $100 refundable deposit check, please make a donation to the Plate Project when you pick up your dishes. The 1912 Center will hold your donation until after the dishes have been returned and then give it to PCEI to deposit. If you are not sure how much to donate, consider what you would regularly spend on renting and/or buying items for your event and then donate a percentage of that amount. Typical donations range from $10-$100. Donations are used to support the growth of the Plate Project.
