Will wheeling a wheelbarrow.
|
On Saturday May 12th, 2007 Americorps volunteer Will Fontaine led a
group of around 20 eager participants in installing a 1600 gallon
rainwater catchment cistern at PCEI’s rodeo campus. Will had been
planning this workshop for some time prior and was able to share what
he learned about water utilizing landscaping, site specific plantings
and of course, cistern systems. Below are some of the statistics
regarding how much water the cistern has collected:
5/12/07- Installed
5/15/07- 50 gallons
5/22/07- 220 gallons (Used throughout summer to water hops)
6/05/07- 350 gallons
6/09/07- 500 gallons
7/02/07- 400 gallons
7/08/07- 350 gallons
7/18/07- Transferred available water to the Pantry Garden cistern.
If there is anything Will wants people to know who couldn’t attend the
workshop it would be this; please conserve water, plant native
vegetation and plant concave, not convex. Don’t drain the rain, use it!
Everyone is welcome to come and see what we are doing here at 1040 Rodeo
Drive.
