A crew of 12 AmeriCorps members lived true to their organization's motto while in Moscow for six short weeks this summer. The time flew by, but lots of accomplishments along Paradise Creek were made while they were here.

Meadow/Joseph St. Project
  • Removed reed canary grass, garbage, and a variety of bricks, asphalt, and cement from the creek and bank.
  • Resloped 90 feet of streambank by installed 25 coir logs totaling more than 300 feet. These coir logs were planted with various rushes, sedges, and grasses.
  • Installed 300 feet of geotextile fabric to trap sediment and stabilize the streambank.

Brink Park
  • Removed 18 truckloads of noxious weeds including Canada thistle, teasel, meadow hawkweed, spotted knapweed and garbage.
  • Created a small path near Paradise Creek and moved 40 truckloads of wood chips to complete the main path.
  • Organized and managed Boys and Girls Club from Lewiston to pull weeds and move wood chips.
