Andrew Mackey

Andrew Mackey is a Natural Resource Contractor and owns Back Forty Land Management LLC. He works with landowners, agencies and organizations to meet their natural resource goals on the Palouse, Hells Canyon and beyond. Andrew also owns and operates a farm in Troy, Idaho with his wife and two daughters, focusing on dryland hay production, horses and mules. He is a two-time alum of the University of Idaho where he earned his bachelor’s in wildlife resources and a master’s in plant science. Andrew has been integrating agriculture, weed management and wildlife habitat management on the Palouse and Hells Canyon for over 10 years. Prior to striking it out on his own he worked as a Private Lands Biologist and the Craig Mt Wildlife Area Manager for Idaho Department of Fish and Game. These roles focused on managing wildlife habitat within the Palouse and Hells Canyon while collaborating with federal, state, NGOs and other partners. He also spent some time working for the Palouse Conservation District as their Resource Program Coordinator, gaining a fundamental understanding in the role of conservation districts and soft funding. In all, Andrew brings over 15 years of experience working with boards, committees and non-profits with a solid foundation of how collaboration leads to success.
